Ryan Mikkelson | Partner

Ryan moved to the South Carolina Lowcountry with his family in 1991 where he attended middle school and high school on Hilton Head Island. After graduating from Hilton Head High School, Ryan attended The College of Charleston and graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 2001. Ryan then attended law school at Mississippi College School of Law where he received his law degree in 2005. Ryan and his family moved back to Bluffton in 2008 and spent several years as the Executive Director of Lowcountry Legal Volunteers before accepting a position with Bullard and Friedman in 2012. Ryan serves on the Board of a number of non-profit organizations including Family Promise of Beaufort County, the Boys and Girls Club of the Lowcountry, and Lowcountry Legal Volunteers. In addition Ryan is also a member of United Way Emerging Leaders, South Carolina Pro-Bono Committee, Hilton Head-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce and the Hilton Head Association of Realtors.

 

Tiffany Mikkelson | Partner

Tiffany was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi where she graduated magna cum laude from Mississippi College in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  After college, Tiffany attended and graduated cum laude from Mississippi College School of Law in 2005. While in law school, Tiffany was a member of Law Review and a Moot Court Board Member.

Following law school, Tiffany clerked at the Mississippi Supreme Court for Justice Jess H. Dickinson for one year prior to accepting a job with one of the largest law firms in Mississippi. In late 2007, Tiffany and her family, moved to the Bluffton area where Tiffany has maintained a small solo practice on a part-time basis handling primarily Family Law matters. In 2009, Tiffany became the Executive Attorney at Lowcountry Legal Volunteers, and she has been serving as the Executive Attorney ever since, out of her desire and commitment to ensure equal access to justice for low-income residents of the local communities.  During the years of service at Legal Volunteers, Tiffany gained tremendous experience representing hundreds of clients in the Family Court on a wide range of legal issues including divorce, separation, custody, visitation, child support modification, adoption, and birth certificate corrections.

Tiffany is married to Ryan, and they have five children together- Walker, Mollie and Mason, Audrey and Grady.  Tiffany stays busy outside of work by volunteering at the children’s school and carpooling the children to their tennis, swim, dance, gymnastics, and other sporting activities.

 

Ashley Adams Brown  | Associate Attorney

Ashley was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2015 and focuses her practice on Residential Real Estate Transactions and Estate Planning. Ashley currently serves on the Family Promise of Beaufort County Board of Directors; the South Carolina Bar Association Community Law Week Committee; and the South Carolina Bar Association Bar Foundation Committee. Ashley is also an active member of the Junior Service League of Beaufort.

She graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science in Community and Regional Planning and a Minor in Political Science in 2010, and then obtained her Paralegal Certificate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2011. Ashley attended and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in May of 2015, with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and a Children’s Law Certificate.

While in Law School, Ashley focused her studies on Estate Planning, Elder Law, and Pro Bono services. She received the CALI Excellence Award highest grade in her Estate Planning course and was selected as the 2015 recipient of the Albert C. Todd, Estate Planning Award. Ashley served as the Pro Bono Board President (2014-2015) and Board Member (2013-2014). She received the Hugh L. Wilcox Pro Bono Volunteer of the Year Award (2014-2015) and the Pro Bono Outstanding Service Award (2013-2014). Additional law school honors included membership in the John Belton O’Neall American Inn of Court, Phi Delta Phi – Calhoun Inn Honors Fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity, and Mock Trial Bar; and was a South Carolina Bar Foundation Public Interest Fellowship recipient and Public Interest Law Society Grant recipient.

Ashley is married to Zachary Brown, a designer for Hansen Architects in Savannah, and has two dogs, Bisbee and Reese. Ashley spends most warm weekends at the beach or cheering on the Gamecocks; but during the Winter months, she and her husband try to spend as much time as possible skiing and snowboarding.

 

Jacquelyn Bowler | Associate Attorney

Jackie first claimed Bluffton as home in 2010. Originally from Illinois, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007 earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Political Science. In 2010, Jackie graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School. Concurrent with her studies, she clerked at a hedge fund and a large law firm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jackie also volunteered at the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic and the Bankruptcy Help Desk during law school.

After moving to the Lowcountry, Jackie practiced estate planning on Hilton Head Island for several years. She is a member of the Junior Service League of Beaufort where she volunteers and fundraises for local non-profits that support women, children, and families.

Jackie’s husband, Kevin, is a Marine F/A-18 pilot stationed in Beaufort. They are raising the two children, Audrey and James. Jackie enjoys spending time with her family, watching her favorite sports teams, and running with her two dogs, Hamilton and Franklin. Jackie is licensed to practice law in both South Carolina and Georgia.
